We all have an old bike, or old bike parts that we don't quite want to let go of. And, the fact is that old parts look cool, and, with a bit of love, they can work almost like-new again.
That's why we wanted to start up this mini-series. It's not just because we have some old road bike parts lying around, it's also because it's a really common question from you guys. Don't forget to leave your video requests down in the comments below!
In this video, Simon shows you how to get an old, frozen rear mech working again. In his case, it's a classic Shimano Dura Ace 7700 rear mech from over a decade ago. The technique that we outline for refurbishing your rear derailleur should be very similar across Shimano and Campagnolo rear derailleurs. And, your mech can be older – or younger– than the one that Si refurbishes in this video.
One thing, though – if you're trying to recondition a SRAM rear mech, the technique will be slightly different. Check out the video for more information
