Not for the feint hearted, the gruellingly steep climbs and technical descents of the 3 Peaks route must be completed on a bike with drop handlebars and tyres no wider than 35mm - certainly not the best tool for the job.

True to name, the 38 mile/61 kilometre route takes in the three summits of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen Y Ghent and totals 5000ft climbing en route. Set in the stunning - yet barren - Yorkshire Dales, the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross race is the ultimate test of fitness, skill and grit. Do you dare take it on?
